It's really interesting how I came about creating One Kiss
.
I have a friend and mentor who was working on her first original book. One of the methods she used involved doing an underpainting before she did the actual illustration. As a matter of fact, the masters of old did their work this way. Back then they didn't have the modern commodities we have now. Like, say, a printer, and photography that was accurate to the colors and that you could manipulate in a computer.
What I decided was to make use of all those things I had fast at hand and experiment with them. I started with taking photographs, then manipulating those in the computer,
printing that and then painting over it. I did this several times, often printing over pre-used paper. T
he results were amazing. One Kiss is one of them.
